Will cannas tolerate shade?

GardenGhostJanuary 1, 2013

Cannas primarily prefer lots of sun. The more sun they get, the bigger and better the plants will be. They will grow in part shade, particularly in climates with long growing seasons and hot summers. Some varieties will grow pretty well in part shade, but remember they need at least 4 hours of sunlight each day (6 hours in cooler climates). Stuttgart is a beautiful canna which actually prefers afternoon shade.
