common terms & abbreviations

Biotope tank = a tank that seeks to accurately represent the flora & usually fauna of a specific area.

cp = carnivorous plant

epiphyte = nonparasitic plant growing on another plant [ex. orchids & bromeliads which grow on trees]

Lithophytes = plants growing on rocks

Nep = Nepenthes. vining carnivorous pitcher

Sarracenia terrestrial pitcher plants grow in a somewhat rosetted form

Terrestrials = plants growing in the ground

vft = venus flytrap
