Why are my tomatoes cracking?

gwtamaraJanuary 1, 2013

Usually this is caused by irregular watering. In periods of dry spells, if you over water or get a heavy rain the tomatoes will grow quicker on theinside than the skin can keep up. Tomatoes that crack are still edible. You should pick them as soon after they split as possible to prevent insects from getting inside the tomato.
