OT but.....Both of the paperback books "Florida Home Grown" and "The Edible Landscape" feature cover photographs of Tom MacCubbin that I took for Waterview Press a long time ago.... The Florida Home Grown cover was shot in Leu Gardens near the big house..... The Edible Landscape cover was photographed in his own backyard garden near Bear Lake....his wife prepared the veggie basket for the shoot.... The last thing I read was The Modern Home Book. Very useful book, as I learned a lot about interior design, as well as home improvement, such as how to choose the right colors, or write about what types of designs there are and how they could be seamlessly combined into one style. All in all, I didn't regret downloading it from the torrent and reading it. If you still think that downloading for free is bad, then I advise you to find more info about The Pirate Bay, where you can see the reliability and benefits of these sites.

"Ultimate Quilters Visual Guide" That's the one I have that was most helpful to me when I was new. Of course I got that AFTER I made a couple quilts and realized how much the authors of the more "general" books ASSUMED you already knew! On of my (many) favorite rants along this topic is how when you are sewing triangular pieces together or to square pieces you need to know how to line them up properly. WHO KNEW? Certainly not me when I made my first Mexican Star quilt and the book just said "Sew these two pieces together." It's not necessarily a beginner's book, but in Alex Anderson's book "Simply Stars" she does a great job of showing all different kinds of triangles and how you line them up when attaching them to other triangles and/or squares. I think the aforementioned visual guide covers this too.

Lots of Golden Books (some from garage sales) that all had that brown horse, with the black main and tail...and little white mark on his head. Do you remember those? My husband blames all these books : ) Loved the Betsy books, Nancy Drew, Trixie Belden, and of course....A Wrinkle In Time. The book is amazing! And I'm still trying to figure out what Charles Wallace's model of a tesseract looks like. But the description of the shortest distance between two points being a line (with apron strings held out far apart from each other) then bringing the two ends of the strings together to step across....best explanation ever of how a worm hole works!
