If you plant them deep enough in the ground, they probably will survive, but the few that I left in the ground did not make it (they were very close to the surface of the soil though and probably did get frozen during the worst of the winter. I just planted my cannas in the ground today. Some I started indoors already and are a nice size and a few were just starting to sprout now. The forecast looks a bit cool here on some days, but no chance of freezes and we are past the average last frost date already in my area. -Alex

I managed to let my spring delivered canna "bulbs" set around in their bags until about 2 or so weeks ago. The ones that were still good are up and thriving though I don't know if they will bloom this year. We do have a long growing season here so I am hopeful.

I'm a newbie to gardening and this forum has been so helpful! Especially the canna info as I have been collecting canna seeds over the past few weeks. I visit with clients daily about gardening stuff and I cant wait to send them here for info!!! Thanks people!

Mid March to early April. Outdoors after chance of last frost. They like warm temps and warm soil. Do you plant in garden or in pots?
