I have 2 metal beds - one with headboard only and the other has a very low footboard - it doesn't even come to the top of the mattress. In a small bedroom I think a high footboard is intrusive, that's why we went with a low profile one. mMybe it's just me but I'm not fond of footboard. I like a cleaner look without one.

LOL Jen! That would not have been good. My hubby uses the swip to type since it's a terrible typist and with his eye sight not being what it used to be, he's sent me some pretty funny texts. Yeah MazGG, if smart phones really were smart they'd make us all look like models in our selfies. Not that I take that many selfies but when I do..... Talk about worst invention, the flip camera on smart phones to take selfies, not a great idea. Nothing more attractive than having ones nose look bigger than it is and either the chicken neck or that look of gawking at something shocking with ones eyes bugging out because you can't see through any of your tri focal lenses to see if your expression looks normal or not. It's always "not".

The language of feng shui may sound a little woo-woo to those of us with a Western education and mindset, but from my limited reading about it, a lot of it seems firmly rooted into the psychology of how we relate to spaces and objects (real or perceived), sometimes rooted in a very primitive part of our brains. Like when my bed was oriented so my head was opposite the door. Or sleeping underneath an object or architectural feature that give the impression it could fall on you.

Some beds come with footboard optional, so you should be able to buy just the footboard. I saw a couple on eBay, and on wayfair i think, but they looked very low. Why not go for a low upholstered headboard. Or check used furniture shops and restores for something you wouldn’t mind discarding the headboard. Or make one. I made an upholstered headboard out of a used hollow core interior door. I cut the corners in a radius with a jig saw and covered it with foam, batting and fabric, and attached wooden legs to raise it to the correct height and make a place to drill holes to bolt it to the bed frame. Plus the simple shape was easy to make slipcovers for so they were washable or just for a change of scenery. Cheap and dirty fix, but it served for 10 years until we bought a better bed.
