I love succulents too! Help me learn to post, please My regualr email is graceygirl777@gmail.com Can someone help me learn to start a post? I need help rooting my Jade leaves? I'm having some success with rooting hormone but still unsure if i might be using too much soil. I actually stopped using soil accept to lightly cover the ends and have success, I have about 40 leaves I'm trying to root, I have branches too. I've rooted the branches in water but that seems like cheating so I'm sticking to the rooting ormone and soil. I haven't developed a full proof technique. sorry for cutting in on you, I've been lurking for a month and can't get the hang of things here. I really do love your succulent, and have very small ones similar. Exciting!

Tracy, I still weigh them on a digital scale and keep a log if I really want to be on top of it. But when they are left for more than a week, I'll just drench the mix and at the instance I would definitely hear the sizzling sound, which is a big indication for me that the mix is definitely dry/part dry. I usually watering until I stop hearing the sizzle. I did notice though, that some pots dry much faster than others, knowing that the plants take in more water. ie my Gollum Jade, it shows the deflation pretty easily when I neglect on my watering. I'm with k8 as well on dunking if you want to ensure the mix is completely hydrated. Sometimes I can still hear the sizzle after my 4th time watering the mix. - Bernard

The dreaded glued rocks are here again! :( They do that so the top dressing doesn't shift and spread all over during shipping it also makes it very hard to water and is not good for the plant. The rocks should probably be removed if you have to tell your mom how to water. She probably will not be able to keep it adequately watered otherwise. I know there are ways to gently do it but I've never done it because I tend to shy away from glued rocks. Check over in the Cactus & succulent forum for tips. Does the pot have drainage? Dunking the pot in water then draining it is the only way you will be able to get the plants watered. They also need a lot of light.
