Welcome to the forum, and welcome to summer vegetable gardening! It's a tough time of year for most familiar veggies, as you see. Humidity, heat, mildew, bugs. Did you see stunted, gnarly, bubbled roots on the plants you removed? That would be nematodes...kill plants quickly. The white squigly marks are probably leaf miners, not a huge problem unless there are lots of them. I agree - many of my roses look like that at this time of year. Not a problem - the leaves have aged naturally, and next Spring there will be new ones. In warm zones sometimes the old leaves stick on, instead of dropping off as they might do in colder zones. OT Digression - here in the US we always call the season after summer and before winter "Fall" (Chaucer used it: "In the Fall of the leaf"). The French derived word "Autumn" is of course used, but way way less. I get the impression that the normal verbal usage in the UK and other British founded countries is Autumn. Roses don't like reservoirs of water. They want full drainage. If those pots are holding water at the root zone the leaves will yellow and drop. Get them in LARGE pots that have good drainage holes in the bottom.

Oh! It could be heat. Boy it has been hot here, in the 90's-100's and it did reach over 105 for a few days. I didn't think of sunburn! I did water them extra to try to keep them hydrated though. I forget how hot has been because I'm working from home, inside, fan blasting on me and shades drawn. And my dahlias look like they are made of steel wool from the sun, I assume. And some of the roses bloomed and looked half dead by the time that they opened. So that very well may be it because it has been spreading, and today it's really bad, although because of the fires, it's cloudy now and so it's finally cooler. Anything I should do? They're awfully big to throw cloth over, being 6-7 feet high, but I could put sheets on them? I don't have shade cloth on hand. I could also just let them get burnt. I'm sure it will cool down in a week or so.
