Small, simple plants with simple needs are generally better candidates. Plants that need medium to low light conditions are often easier to care for. In a terr it can be difficult to provide the light needed for high light plants w/o raising the temperature of the tank to too high of a level. Be sure to pick plants that have similar requirements.
Personally I would avoid plants that require a dormancy period unless you can subject the entire tank to those dormant conditions.
