Growlights emit full spectrum light which imitates sunlight. They can be fluorescent or incandescent. They are good for plants and good for people because they are easy on the eyes. Ordinary incandescents do not emit enough light for growth and ordinary fluorescents make the eyes burn and water. If you have full spectrum lighting in your house, plants will grow anywhere and your eyes will thank you as well.
Fluorescents have new classifications: D30, D35, D41, D50, the highest number being the closest to sunlight. Fluorescent tubes do not need to be labelled "Growlight" to be effective. Mass production makes fluorescent full spectrum light tubes more cost effective than those with special labels.
